The fact that this year's version of the world's largest bicycle show would present an exploded offering of e-bikes was to be expected. Since the Eurobike Show 2013, at which e-MTB's and Speed Pedelecs had their world premiere at just a few booths, both versions popped up virtually everywhere. The newcomers of 2013 have become a sort of 'regular' in just one year! They are part of the MY 2015 e-bike range of almost all bicycle providers now. All but one; for many manufacturers, electric road racers seems to be one bridge too far.

Bosch' dominance not over yet

Incidentally not just the supply of e-bikes is growing very fast, the same goes for e-bike components and/or drive systems. So much even that a whole new level in diversity occurs. Will this lead to a quick ending of Bosch' dominance? As yet, that does not seem the case; Bosch was all over Eurobike 2014.

Threat to e-bikes

Not all is rosy and OK for e-bikes as Accell Group CEO René Takens warned for a threat at the official opening of Eurobike. He said; " "Safety concerning Speed Pedelecs is a real threat. Here, the legislation is not yet clearly defined and organized. All of us should take this profoundly into consideration for otherwise it will never get to the mentioned 50%. Especially not when Speed Pedelecs get a negative image which will pass on to all electric bikes. This is a responsibility for each and every player on the market."
